URBANA – University of Illinois Chancellor Phyllis Wise is stepping down.
Wise is resigning from her role as chancellor and vice president effective August 12th. However, Wise will stay on as a faculty member. In an announcement today, Phyllis cited “external issues” involving her that she says are a distraction to the university.
University President Timothy Killeen said he will appoint an interim chancellor to take over Wise’s duties. Her resignation is effective Aug. 12.
