McLean County re-working, expanding lease agreements with PBC

BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Board is planning to re-write and expand its lease agreements with the county Public Building Commission.

Board Chairman Matt Sorenson said the county has a long history of partnering with the commission to own and manage public buildings.

“What we have found is it would be wise for us to re-write those leases so as to include the operations and maintenance costs of the facilities as well,” said Sorenson. “It’s been a fairly common practice for us over the years, but maybe not as clearly stated in the leases as it should be.”

The leases will also be expanded to included future projects.

“The federally qualified health center which we are in the process of planning for and will be building out at the Fairview property in Normal,” said Sorenson. “As well as the remodel project on parts of the McLean County Jail.

“It’s all part of laying the groundwork to be able to have all of our tools available to us when we decide how and what we need to do over there.”

A public hearing on the leases will be held July 23 at 3 p.m. in Room 400 at the Government Center, 115 E. Washington St., Bloomington.
