PEORIA – Caterpillar is laying off 120 employees at its East Peoria plant.
The Peoria Journal Star reported the indefinite layoffs will take effect June 29. It’s the second round of layoffs to take place at the East Peoria plant this year. 120 workers were let go in January.
In its announcement Wednesday, Caterpillar said it is taking the action “to bring production in line with demand.”
In May, Caterpillar laid off 150 workers at its Decatur plant due to weak demand for the mining equipment manufactured there.
