ROCHELLE – Illinois State Police say a man reported missing on Thursday has been found after abandoning his vehicle near Lexington and taken to the hospital.
Police issued a bulletin on Thursday after state troopers responded to a motorist assist call on Interstate 55 and found no one inside the vehicle. Police determined the car belongs to a Hammond, Indiana man who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease.
Nathaniel Burns, 81, was found late Thursday night walking near a truck stop along Illinois Route 38 near Interstate 39 in Rochelle. Police say Burns was weak and confused and was taken to Rochelle Community Hospital where he was treated and reunited with his family.
