BLOOMINGTON – Mitsubishi Motors continued its sales momentum in April.
The company reported sales were up 25.6 percent compared to April 2014. Spokesman Dan Irvin said the Twin Cities built Outlander Sport led the way once again.
“A little bit more Outlander Sports than Mirages in the month of April,” said Irvin. “A little bit more than a year ago, up 2 percent and up 5 percent for the year.”
Irvin said Mirage sales are up 65.4 percent year-to-date.
“Even though the gas prices are down compared to where they were a year ago, the little Mirage compact car is really, I think, resonating with consumers,” he said.
O’Brien Mitsubishi in Normal also continued to see strong numbers, after having its best ever sales month in March.
“Top five finish – I believe they were fourth in the nation,” said Irvin. “But they also were the top seller of Outlander Sports. So a nice marriage there between the local dealer and the fact that we build the product here.”
Irvin expected May to be yet another good month.
