McLean County property tax bills released

By WJBC Staff

BLOOMINGTON – McLean County property tax bills will be released on Friday.

About 68,000 McLean County taxpayers are being billed $308.3 million, which is about 2.8 percent or $8.3 million higher than last year. McLean County’s overall final 2014 taxable Equalized Assessed Valuation  has increased to $3.69 billion compared to $3.62 billion last year.

Property tax due dates are June 1 and September 1. Delinquent payments will be assessed an interest penalty of 1.5 percent per month per statute. The delinquent tax sale is October 28.

Due to a processing agreement and technical solutions the county implemented in 2014, all payments remitted by mail will continue to process through Commerce Bank’s payment center in Kansas City, Mo. Payments may still be made in person at the treasurer’s office or through many local banks.

Taxpayers may contact the McLean County Supervisor of Assessments office at (309) 888-5130 with questions about exemptions, assessments or to report a billing address change.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
