SPRINGFIELD – A pair of bills have been introduced at the state house that would increase Illinois’ earned income tax credit.
A House and Senate bill will push the credit from 10 percent to 20 percent. The measure was talked about during a press conference about child poverty in the state.
A report released today by Voices for Illinois Children says that poverty among Illinois children remains high and lawmakers see this as a way to help low income families. The tax credit would be raised two percent each year for five years.
