SPRINGFIELD – One member of the state Legislature wants to get rid of tuition wavers for children of state university employees.
The Champaign The News-Gazette reports State Rep. Jack Franks (D-Marengo) said he will introduce an amendment that would phase out 50-percent tuition waivers over the next four years.
Franks said the waivers awarded last year to the children of state employees who had been on the job seven years or more cost those universities nearly $10 million.
