SPRINGFIELD – Senate Democrats are pushing a plan designed to close the gaps in the Illinois budget.
The Senate Appropriations Committee approved a bill that would allow around $580 million to be taken from special state funds. The money would then be used to help pay for shortfalls in the budget including subsidized child care and the salaries of state prison workers.
The plan could be put to a full vote in the Senate by the end of the week.
