GILSON – A Republican state lawmaker has introduced a bill urging the Illinois Department of Transportation to make rest stops a bit healthier for hungry drivers.
Rep. Don Moffitt's bill would make 30 percent of snacks in vending machines healthy in the rest areas along state highways. Moffitt's bill would also mandate that two of the three healthy snacks are made in Illinois.
Moffitt said the snacks would need to have fewer than 220 calories.
