SPRINGFIELD – State government employees will get to keep more of their money from fair share dues pending whatever lawsuits unions file against the state.
Gov. Bruce Rauner’s executive order for Central Management Services and other state agencies to cease taking so-called fair share dues from state employees won’t immediately get into the pockets of those employees.
The money, an average of $570 per employee per year, or $3.25 million, will sit in an escrow account pending the outcome of whatever legal challenges may arise.
Several of the state’s public sector unions have indicated they are investigating their possible legal maneuvers after Rauner’s announcement Monday.
