Ivan Brandow
Ivan F. Brandow, 71, of Bloomington, passed away at 11:24 a.m. on Feb. 2 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bloomington, with Pastor Peter Weeks officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. A private interment will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bloomington or Habitat for Humanity.
Ivan was born Aug. 28, 1943, in Yankton, S.D., son of Frank and Mabel Ballinger Brandow, who precede him in death.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. in 1965. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant E-5 in 1970 and was a decorated Vietnam veteran.
He began his career at State Farm Insurance Company in data processing in Lincoln, NE and after 36 years, he retired from the Network Firewall Security team in 2005.
He was very active and a long-time volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and with Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Some of Ivan’s greatest enjoyment came from gardening, riding his Harleys and helping with the family farms when he traveled back to Nebraska.
Surviving are one son, Jeremy (Tori) Brandow of Champaign, one daughter, Alison (Andrew) Gray of Bloomington, and three grandsons, Oliver and Miles Brandow of Champaign and Alexander Gray of Bloomington. Also surviving are two brothers, Dwight (Kaye) Brandow of Coleridge, Neb., and David (Lanette) Brandow of Cadillac, Miss., and one sister, Dorothy “Sally” Larson of Dakota City, Neb.
Ivan touched many lives with his kind heart and will be deeply missed.

Doyte Burton
F. Doyte Burton, 76, of Bloomington passed away at 10:07 a.m. on Feb. 3 at his residence.
His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. The Rev. Mark Wallace will be officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.
The family suggests memorials be made to Crossroad Chapel, Bloomington.
Doyte was born July 5, 1938 in Normal the son of Leslie and Dorothy Burton Burton. He married Carolyn Buis on April 3, 1959 in Bloomington. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cindy Merritt, Durham, N.C., Lori Burton, Bloomington; five grandchildren, Paige, Adam and Ally Merritt, Durham, N.C., Jay and Jack Burton, Bloomington; one sister, Jean Reinhart, Champaign; two brothers, Donald (Ellie) Burton, Bloomington and Duane (Rita) Burton, Normal.
He is preceded in death by parents, four sisters, Edith Manahan, Audrey Yeakel, Christine Hinthorn and Opal Morgan.
Doyte and Carolyn owned and operated Burton Rooter Drain Cleaning Service, Bloomington for 26 years. They also enjoyed traveling to McAllen, Texas together where they spent the winter months. Doyte and Carolyn enjoyed camping, hiking and spending time with family.

Barbara Carmack
Barbara Jeanette Carmack, age 79, of Rogersville, Tenn., formerly of Bloomington, passed away Jan. 31.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Rogersville.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Park Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Barbara was born July 28, 1935 in Indianapolis, daughter of Harrell and Hazel Meador Henley. She married Ronald E. Carmack on Feb. 17, 1978 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2003. Her parents, her sister, Sandra Daniels, and her great-granddaughter, Abigail Snodgrass, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathy (Kenny) Ballard of Sevierville, Tenn. and Patricia Moore of Rogersville, and one son, Norman Wright of Rogersville. Also surviving are her brother, Gene (Donna) Henley; nephew, Ron Henley; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Barbara served proudly in the US Marine Corps. She was co-owner and operator with her husband Ron of Ron’s Paint and Body in Bloomington. Her church home was Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Barbara was loved by everyone she met. She enjoyed listening to music, writing songs and dancing.
