PEORIA – Bradley University's president has announced plans to retire.
Joanne Glasser was appointed president in 2007 is the first female president in the school's history.
“It has been an honor, privilege, and joy to have had the opportunity to serve as the tenth president of Bradley University,” said Glasser in a news release. “This difficult decision comes with many mixed feelings predicated upon my love of the institution, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the Peoria community which has been my home for the last eight years. But, I believe it is time for a leadership change to allow fresh eyes and new ideas to continue the excellent momentum of our institution.”
During her tenure, Glasser oversaw the development of new academic programs, rising national rankings, $128 million in construction projects, and was known for her tireless efforts as a champion of student engagement and success.
Glasser will officially step down at the end of May.
