BLOOMINGTON – If you live in McLean County, you might want to consider buying a radon detection kit.
Patrick Daniels head of the radon program with Illinois Emergency Management Agency says McLean County's radon levels are at an unsafe measurement.
"McLean County, we've tested over 6 homes with a 52 percent we're above the 4 pCi per liter, the county average is 5.6 pCi per liter so that makes the county average above what we recommend you take action at," said Daniels.
January is radon action month in Illinois.
"Radon is colorless, odorless radioactive gas that comes from the soil that's in and around our home," said Daniels.
Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers.
