SPRINGFIELD – A former state employee who has a gang affiliation history is back at work for state government.
An arbitrator ordered Xandrian McCraven back on the job after he was fired from the Department of Corrections. DOC Spokesperson Tom Shaer said McCraven, who was also once fired from the Department of Children and Family Services, didn’t completely and accurately fill out his application and that led to his dismissal.
"We did determine he had not disclosed on his application certain things about his past, arrests and various charges against him," Shaer said.
An arbitrator ruled that McCraven could get back the six-figure salaried position as a senior policy adviser in the parole division based in Chicago.
Shaer said so far McCraven completed his assignments without incident. Details about the arbitrator’s ruling aren't publicly available because DOC is appealing the decision. The next scheduled closed door session is Jan. 16.
