BLOOMINGTON – The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was one of the most significant pieces of legislation in American history, which is why it's important to recognize the upcoming 50th anniversary of its approval.
That's according to Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner who took time to recognize the act this afternoon (Friday). Renner says this legislation helped change the political field.
