QUINCY – A postmaster in western Illinois says she doesn't want
children's letters to Santa to go unanswered.
Susan Dorrough is Quincy's postmaster. It's been her job this year to deal with
cards and letters mailed by area children to Santa Claus.
The Quincy Herald-Whig reports (http://bit.ly/1wkN5VR ) that about 100 such
letters and cards to Santa are mailed in the area each year with addresses like
“North Pole.'' The letters are gathered by postal carriers and brought to
Dorrough.
She tells the newspaper that she takes time to answer each one as long as they
have a return address. She says she doesn't promise gifts, but expresses joy
about the holidays.
