PEORIA – A man from Normal will call prison home for the next four years after being sentenced in U.S. District Court.
John D. Powell, 55, was found guilty of operating an unlicensed Bitcoin exchange on the internet. Federal prosecutors say Powell's business allowed people to anonymously exchange cash for Bitcoin over the internet.
He received more than $3 million over an 18-month period that ended earlier this year.
