NORMAL – The site plan for the Town of Normal’s future fire department headquarters on Main Street has the approval of the town’s Planning Commission.
The commission voted to recommend approval of the plan Thursday night. It now goes to the Town Council for final approval.
Fire Chief Mick Humer said up next will be putting the project out for bid.
“That’ll take about 30 days or so for them to get back to us and everything, and then we’ll open the bids,” he said.
Humer explained they hope to begin construction of the $8 million project by early June. He added the building will take roughly 12 to 13 months to finish.
