ST. LOUIS – Illinois Wesleyan's one-point lead after an early second-half surged was short lived, as Washington University used its size and strength to outmuscle the Titans 90-72 at the Wash U. Fieldhouse on Saturday.
Senior David Fatoki led the Bears with 27 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Wash U's 10-run put the Bears on top for good after back-to-back 3s by Ryan Coyle and Jordan Nelson gave Wesleyan a 53-52 lead with 16 minutes to play.
The Bears outrebounded IWU 45-33 and pulled down 15 offensive boards, leading to 22 second-chance points.
Senior Dylan Overstreet led the Titans with 17 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
