NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — McLean County Unit School District 5 held a virtual enrollment plan presentation for families on Thursday.
Superintendent Kristen Weikle presented the plan. The recommendation includes reassigning students to different schools. The proposed plan keeps Carlock and Glenn Elementary Schools open.
There will be 611 students impacted by the proposed changes. The presentation also included information about how the changes may affect high school students’ playing eligibility with the Illinois High School Association.
The estimated construction and renovation costs range from $32.3 million to $45.3 million
According to Weikle, projects will be financed by selling bonds. Bond payments will be funded with revenue from the County School Facilities Tax, resulting in no property tax increase for construction or renovation.
The planning process began in October with several studies and public information sessions. The board of education will vote on the recommendation on April 15.
