NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — The Normal Police Department has released more details regarding the shooting of six people early Sunday.
Brad Park, a police spokesman, said the victims were from Peoria, Bloomington, Normal and Chicago. All were under 20. Below is a list of ages and hometowns:
- 17-year-old male from Bloomington
- 17-year-old male from Peoria
- 18-year-old female from Normal
- 19-year-old male from Bloomington
- 18-year-old male from Bloomington
- 19-year-old female from Chicago
Further information on their conditions will be updated at a later time, Park said.
“Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident and are asking for the public’s assistance,” he said. “We believe there may be individuals who were present at the gathering or in the surrounding area who have information critical to this investigation.”
Officers with the Normal Police Department were called at 2:40 a.m. on March 22 to the 700 block of Franklin Avenue to a report of a shooting, said Park
He said the shooting occured outside in a parking lot.
When officers arrived, they found two men, two women, and two children with apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and took them to the hospital, Park said.
According to a Facebook post by the Illinois State University Police Department, two of the victims are ISU students.
Park said the incident “appears to be isolated,” but no arrests have been made public.
