BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A Bloomington man is dead after an early morning traffic crash last weekend.
Travis Floyd, 22, was pronounced dead at Carle BroMenn Medical Center at 9:24 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, said McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder.
At 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, Sept 20, officers with the Bloomington Police Department went to a crash with injuries reported in the 1000 block of Hinshaw Avenue.
Due to the severity, the McLean County Accident Reconstruction Team was requested.
The front seat passenger, later identified as Floyd, was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, said Bloomington police spokesman Bryce Janssen.
Other occupants were injured but none were considered to be life-threatening.
The investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Hinshaw Avenue when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Yoder said an autopsy revealed that Floyd died of blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.
The incident is still being investigated by the Bloomington Police Department, the McLean County Accident Reconstruction Team and the McLean County Coroner’s Office.
