BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — The Central Illinois Regional Airport is receiving millions in funding thanks to a federal grant.
The $12.5 million airport improvement grant comes from the Federal Aviation Administration to fund the first phase of the upcoming Runway 11/29 Rehabilitation Project, CIRA spokesperson Melissa Beaver said.
The project will involve pavement rehabilitation and the installation of new runway lights, signs and safety enhancements on the east-west runway.
CIRA Executive Director Carl Olson said the first phase of rehabilitation work will take place throughout the spring, summer and fall of 2026.
