EL PASO, Ill. (WMBD) — A man is in custody after allegedly shooting a gun near a woman.
Derrico Quinn, 36, was arrested and booked on charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery, Woodford County Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword.
At 10:36 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, Woodford County Communications learned of a domestic situation at 48 North Pine Street in El Paso.
Tipsword said they were informed the man in the home had a handgun and had allegedly shot once in the direction of a woman.
Officers from the El Paso and Eureka Police Departments, as well as deputies from the Woodford County Sheriff’s office, went to the home.
He said the victim was able to escape the home uninjured. But the suspect, later identified as Quinn, was barricaded in the single-family home and still had the gun.
Tipsword said the Central Illinois Emergency Response Team was called to the scene.
Quinn eventually came out of the house. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Woodford County Jail.
Tipsword said Woodford County detectives are still investigating the scene, and additional charges are possible.
