BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A man is in custody after allegedly sexually assaulting multiple underage victims.
On Tuesday, July 8, Danyal D. Northern, 40, of Bloomington was arrested on ten felony counts in connection with a sexual assault investigation, according to police spokesperson Bryce Janssen.
Jannssen said Northern was arrested on charges of predatory criminal sexual assault with a victim less than 13, criminal sexual assault of a family member less than 18 and criminal sexual assault/position of supervision of a victim between 13-17.
The investigation allegedly began when a report was made to a Bloomington Police Department patrol officer. The case was referred to their Criminal Investigations Division, he said.
He said due to the victims’ ages, detectives worked closely with the Children’s Advocacy Center and the Department of Children and Family Services to conduct victim interviews and ensure proper support was provided.
“Collaborative efforts of our community stakeholders, along with keen investigative skills and effective prosecutions, are paramount. Thanks to the prosecutors, advocacy organizations, and DCFS for working with our officers and detectives to bring justice to the victims in this very unfortunate case,” Chief Jamal Simington said.
This incident is still under investigation by the Bloomington Police Department. Anyone with information should contact Detective Curt Maas at (309) 434-2534 or cmaas@cityblm.org.
