BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A man was charged in connection to three business robberies in Bloomington earlier this week.
Jacob C. Stone, 25, was arrested on several counts of burglary, reckless discharge of a firearm, criminal damage, and possession of a stolen firearm for the alleged burglaries.
Officers with the Bloomington Police Department were called on Thursday, July 3, to Daddios located at the 500 block of North Main Street to a report of a burglary inside the business, according to court documents.
When officers arrived, they spoke to a man who said he had locked the bar down the night before but did not set the alarm, the documents said.
The man also allegedly could be seen taking three iPads and a handgun, the documents said.
After reviewing surveillance video, a man fitting the description, allegedly Stone, was seen at the bar looking for a phone he claims was stolen out of his car. He was then arrested and taken to the McLean County Jail, the documents said.
Police also allegedly learned during their investigation of two other burglaries at Mulligan’s and Fat Jack’s. Surveillance video from the two businesses allegedly showed the same man who had burglarized Daddios, documents said.
Several items were allegedly stolen from the two other businesses, including credit cards left from patrons earlier in the day, as well as electronics such as more iPads, the documents said.
The man in the video of Mulligans allegedly had a tattoo on his neck, which the documents say matches a tattoo that Stone has.
During the burglary of Mulligans, he allegedly fired four rounds from a gun that is believed to be the one taken from Daddios, although police have not been able to find the firearm, the documents said.
As of Saturday, afternoon, Stone is still being held in jail.
