PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Bradley University was awarded $2 million in grants from the state for campus improvements.
State Sen. Dave Koehler and state Rep. Jehan Gordon Booth, who is also the Majority Leader, helped secure the funds for the university, said Bradley spokeswoman Libby Derry.
Newly appointed president James Shadid showed gratitude to state leaders for the support they have shown the university.
“We are grateful for the ongoing belief our elected officials have in Bradley’s mission,” he said. “Their support ensures that Bradley remains a strong, forward-thinking institution that serves as a resource for our region and beyond.”
Shadid said the funding will help not only students, faculty and staff but the community as a whole.
“This investment is a powerful affirmation of Bradley’s role in shaping the future of Illinois,” he said. “Capital improvements are vital to creating a vibrant learning environment. This funding allows us to strategically enhance our campus in ways that directly support our students, faculty, staff, and the broader Peoria community.”
Derry said the university is already working to allocate the funding to projects that will “enhance the academic experience, improve campus infrastructure, and strengthen Bradley’s community impact.”
Specifics on where the money was not given, but Derry did say that as more information about improvements becomes available, the university will release it.
