BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A 19-year-old Chicago man will remain in jail pending the outcome of his case in connection to a shooting at Illinois State University earlier this year.
Emir Thomas appeared in McLean County Circuit Court on Friday, June 27, in which the judge approved the state’s motion to hold him pending the outcome of the case, according to court documents.
He was arrested on Tuesday, June 24, in Chicago by the U.S. Marshals on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery-discharge of a firearm, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, according to an Illinois State University Police Department Facebook post at the time.
On April 28, a man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting occurred near the Bone Student Center at approximately 7:40 p.m.
He will next appear in court for an arraignment hearing on July 18.
