BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A local non-profit launched a new campaign to raise money that will go towards helping unsheltered neighbors in Bloomington-Normal.
Home Sweet Home Ministries’ “Build The Bridge” campaign hopes to raise $750,000, Home Sweet Home Director of Development Leslie Bunge said.
The money will go towards developing “The Bridge,” which includes 48 private sleeping cabins and a central community building. The Bridge will be located at 104 East Oakland Avenue.
Bunge said the project has already been approved by both the Bloomington City Council and Normal Town Council.
Home Sweet Home Ministries is finalizing a grant agreement with McLean County that would provide close to $1.5 million of funding for the project. Eastview Christian Church also committed a $100,000 donation to the project.
“As Home Sweet Home embarks on this new endeavor, we kindly ask for your support. Your contribution is deeply valued and appreciated,” expresses Matt Burgess, Chief Executive Officer of HSHM. “Every donation, big or small, has the power to change a life, redefine hope, and strengthen our community. We are thankful for your steadfast support and trust in us. With your help, The Bridge will become a place of hope for our unhoused neighbors.”
Those interested in donating can do so here and indicate that it is being donated to The Bridge in the campaign box.
