BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — The city of Bloomington is taking steps towards improving its water infrastructure.
At Tuesday’s council meeting, it was unanimously approved to issue up to $36 million in bonds. This plays a part in the water department’s 10-year Capital Plan.
The bonds would help cover costs for this coming year and the following year. The capital needs for this year include the Prairie Vista water tower and the Meadowbrook subdivision.
For fiscal year 26, $18 million will go to lead services and water main replacements along U.S. Route 51.
The overall 10-year capital plan is estimated to be more than $350 million.
