NORMAL – Normal police have arrested two men for their alleged connection to a shooting incident near Lincoln and Beech streets on Saturday.
According to Normal Chief of Police Steve Petrilli, Alphonzo T. Davis, 37, of Springfield was arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of a weapon by a felon. Dewayne J. Farris, 31, of Normal was arrested for disorderly conduct.
Normal police officers initially responded to the scene at about 5:47 p.m. on Saturday and found evidence of a shooting. The shooting occurred near where a youth football game was being played at One Normal Plaza.
No injuries or property damage were reported during this incident.
“I commend the hard work and dedication of the Normal Police Department Criminal Investigations Division to identify two suspects in this deplorable crime and the strong partnership we have with the United States Marshals Service to swiftly apprehend the suspects without incident,” Petrilli said.
The charges will be reviewed by the McLean County State Attorney’s Office.
