MCLEAN COUNTY – The heat wave expected this week to put temperatures into the 90s will trigger a response form local governments to open cooling centers for residents in need.
High temperatures and humidity are particularly problematic for the elderly, very young children and pets. People should take care to make sure they and their loved ones have plenty of shade, water and access to indoors where the temperatures could be cooler.
Bloomington and Normal as well as the county have combined forces to create a map with several cooling centers. That map can be found here.
Some of the locations are the Connect Transit Bus center on Front Street and the Bloomington Public Library. Please look at the map for the location nearest you.
