BLOOMINGTON – Illinois State Board of Election’s top brass is dispelling any myths about election fraud ahead of the Illinois Gubernatorial election.

“All of the talk that you’ve heard about widespread voter fraud and everything is completely, completely, without any evidence…The problem with it is that if the those, who believed that the (2020) election was rigged or that there was some kind of widespread fraud, if they were to present evidence, we’d be able to refute that evidence,” ISBE Public Information Officer Matt Dietrich said.

We could show you why that’s not correct. But the problem is these allegations emerged kind of out of nowhere. They weren’t backed by any type of evidence.”

According to Dietrich, the ISBE follows the state statute of election security to dispel any myths about widespread fraud.

“If you talk to any county clerk who runs elections regardless of their party. They’re going to tell you that’s one of the things they’re most proud of is how precisely they follow the state statute that governers the handling of ballots and testing of equipment and all that.”

Just ahead of election day, almost 800,000 statewide have requested a vote-by-mail ballot, compared to 427,000 vote-by-mail votes in the last election.

Labor Day – Expanding voting rights for all

By Mike Matejka As President Donald Trump threatens to send federal marshals into Chicago, over the objections of Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
