NORMAL – The Midwest Food Bank is receiving a $10,000 grant to replace an automatic door for the walk-in freezer.
Thanks to a grant from Compeer Financial, the food bank is replacing the door that was presenting mechanical and safety concerns.
“The 5,200 square-foot freezer stores up to 11 semi-truck-sized loads of frozen protein, vegetables, and other necessary foods that are supplied to MFB’s partner agencies,” Tara Ingham, Executive Director at MFB, said.
“The old door presented challenges in accessing the frozen foods we gather for distribution to our partner food pantries. The generosity from our friends at Compeer Financial helped provide a new door solution, increasing our operational efficiencies and safety to our volunteers and staff.”
The food bank provides food to nearly 500 partner nonprofit agencies every month.
