BLOOMINGTON – According to a state climatologist, July was wetter than usual.
State Climatologist Trent Ford reported July was among the top 20 wettest Julys, although rainfall totals varied widely across the state.
“July rainfall tends to be pretty sporadic, you can get two inches, and your neighbor gets nothing – that’s kind of the nature of the local scale kind of convective of the rainfall we get in July. But, this year, it was off the charts as far as the variability.”
Conversely, counties in east central Illinois continue to experience drought conditions.
