BLOOMINGTON – Secretary of State Jesse White’s office encourages more minorities to consider organ donation.
According to Secretary of State Spokesperson Beth Kaufman, the need has never been greater.
“The issue here is that minorities are in most need of organ transplants, yet they are less in terms of donations. This is part of a campaign to bring awareness to this life-saving program.”
Nationally, 59% of those waiting for an organ are people of color, but they only make up about 34% of donors.
