BLOOMINGTON – Miller Park Zoo has received a donation from the Fort Jesse Imaging and Gale Keeran Center for Women that includes an ultrasound unit.
The equipment will be used by zoo staff to better diagnose and treat the zoo animals for variety of conditions.
Jay Tetzloff, Zoo Superintendent, said, “This new ultrasound is another great asset that Zoo and veterinary staff are excited to utilize to improve the care of our animals.”
Miller Park Zoo will utilize the new ultrasound to detect pregnancies to help in the husbandry of the mammals at the Zoo. It also gives Zoo Staff and veterinary staff another tool in the toolbox to diagnose and treat any animal medically.
Ft. Jesse Imaging has partnered with the zoo for many years and loves to support this important community organization. “The way that we can connect with organizations in need is so vital to the work we do at Ft. Jesse Imaging and Gale Keeran Center for Women,” said Melissa Jewett, Administrator. “I love being able to help our local zoo continue the work it does every day in preservation, study, and health of the animals in its care.”
This is the second time Fort Jesse Imaging has made a donation to the Zoo, the first time coming in November of 2015.
