Damp, cool conditions dominate the week’s USDA crop report

SPRINGFIELD – There were 0.8 days suitable for field work during the week ending April 10, 2022. Statewide, the average temperature was 44.0 degrees, 3.4 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.87 inches, 0.16 inches above normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 4 percent short, 50 percent adequate, and 46 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 5 percent short, 58 percent adequate, and 36 percent surplus.

Winter wheat headed was 4 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 2 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 7 percent very poor, 19 percent poor, 23 percent fair, 37 percent good, and 14 percent excellent.
