BLOOMINGTON – The Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington is thanking the community after $2,162 was raised during the Betty White Challenge.
The challenge was to honor White’s 100th birthday and asked people to donate to an animal shelter or rescue.
The money donated to Miller Park Zoo will go towards enrichment for the animals, according to zoo superintendent Jay Tetzloff.
“Betty White was loved by so many people and she was such an animal advocate,” Tetzloff told WJBC’s Scott Miller. “We took it on and decided to promote this challenge and kind of live on with her legacy and we are thrilled with over $2,000.”
Tetzloff says the enrichment toys and devices help to keep the animals mentally and physically stimulated.
The Miller Park Zoo is located at 1020 South Morris Avenue.
