NORMAL – Amid rising cases of COVID-19 in McLean County, Connect Transit is suspending bus fares and late-night services.
Connect Transit Chairman Ryan Whitehouse said the new procedures include Connect Trnait fixed-route bus service and Connect Mobility paratransit service.
“We will continue to treat fare suspension, rear boarding, and suspension of late-night service as a precautionary measure to eliminate the physical contact required between riders and bus operators.”
According to a news release, Connect Transit said as the organization continues to monitor cases of COVID-19 in the twin cities, a timetable is unclear on when the fare collection would resume.
Connect Transit says face masks are mandatory while riding the bus service.
The new procedures go into effect, Saturday, Jan. 8.
