McLean County COVID-19 positivity on the rise; officials, report 383 new cases since Wednesday

BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County health department reports 383 new cases of COVID-19 since Wednesday.

At last count, 607 people are isolated at home, while 25,097 people have been released from isolation and are considered recovered.

Officials report 22 county residents are hospitalized for COVID-19. Local hospitals report 81% of ICU beds and 95% of total beds are in use, while 25 people from outside the county and hospitalized in McLean county with COVID-19.

Meanwhile, officials the county’s cumulative positivity rate remained steady at 4.1%; however, the county’s 7-day positivity rate increased to 6.2% from 4.2% on Wednesday.

“Approximately 5,800 COVID-19 tests were conducted in McLean County over the extended 4-day Thanksgiving holiday, which is approximately the recent average number of tests over a two-day weekend,” said MCHD Public Affairs Coordinator Marianne Manko in a news release. “A high percentage of positive tests also suggests high coronavirus infection rates in a population.”

There have been 284 COVID-related deaths in the county.

On the vaccine front, approximately 218,588 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the county, and 56.06% of the population are fully vaccinated.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), 57.88% of Illinois residents are fully vaccinated.
