BLOOMINGTON – The holiday season is rapidly approaching, and that means the Salvation Army needs bell ringers.
Angie Bubon, Development Director for the Bloomington Salvation Army, told WJBC’s Scott Miller the need is even more significant after Thanksgiving.
“Pretty much the entire season, there will always be openings available for anybody who wants to volunteer to ring bells. After Thanksgiving, things really get geared up where all of our locations will be open and ready for people to be ringing bells.
Due to the pandemic, Bubon said the Salvation Army is holding virtual kettles where people can donate online.
“If you want to get your family and friends really across the country to donate to Bloomington Salvation Army, you can set up your own Red Kettle online and can fundraise on social media or through email. It’s a great way, especially as we’re still kinda dealing with COVID and (the) pandemic, as people aren’t comfortable being out and ringing.”
Last year’s Red Kettle Campaign raised over $500,000 for the Bloomington Salvation Army.
