BLOOMINGTON – Following the brawl at Bloomington High School last Monday that sent a school resource officer to the hospital, one of the students involved in the fights has been expelled.
The District 87 school board is holding hearings this week discussing the consequences following last week’s fights.
District 87 Superintendent Barry Reilly said in a statement one student involved in the brawl was expelled.
“The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority,” Reilly said in a statement.
“The fights that occurred last week at BHS put the safety of some of our students and staff in jeopardy. This is something that we take very seriously,” he added.
He said the district is considering expulsion for the other three students involved as well.
Reilly also said hearings for the three remaining students will continue tomorrow.
