BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Fair starts on Wednesday. Local health officials are reminding people to be cautious with COVID-19 still present in the community.
McLean County Health Department Administrator Jessica McKnight says they want people to enjoy the fair but there are ways to help reduce the risk of COVID-19.

“If you are in an environment that is more crowded, trying to socially distance, wearing a mask, being fully vaccinated, those are things you can do to help protect yourself,” McKnight told WJBC’s Scott Miller.
The health department will be offering walk-in COVID vaccines at the fair Wednesday through Saturday. All three vaccine types will be available.
Organizers of the McLean County Fair are offering incentives for those who have yet to receive a COVID vaccine.
• 2 free tickets for any grandstand event during the fair (additional fair admission may apply if attending a grandstand event on a different night than the vaccine)
— OR–
• 2 carnival ride arm bands
“Health and safety are top priorities for the McLean County Fair,” said Fair Manager Mike Swartz. “We are pleased to collaborate with the McLean County Health Department to help make COVID-19 vaccines easily accessible, reduce the risk of spreading this virus, and keep our community healthy.”
