BLOOMINGTON – Plenty of rain is expected as we head into the weekend. The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a flash flood watch until 7 a.m. Saturday.
The NWS says periods of showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue through the weekend. Some of these storms could be severe, especially Friday afternoon and evening and again Saturday afternoon and evening. The primary hazards will be damaging winds and large hail.
A wet and active weather pattern continues as repeated rounds of storms move through the area. Highest rain amounts through Saturday AM look to fall north of I-70 with 2 to 3 inches currently expected. With the heavy rain over the next few days, people are being reminded to not drive through moving or standing water, if you can’t see the road don’t drive on it, and it only takes six inches of flowing water to sweep you off your feet.
