SPRINGFIELD – The ways of the pandemic could be with us for the rest of our lives.

Getting used to working from home, University of Illinois Springfield professor Ken Kriz is looking at how you and I are spending our money:
“On things like home and home entertainment. Those are up. We are spending on things we can consume at home a lot more,” he told a UIS webinar.
“Restaurants are actually recovering. When I did a presentation on this even six months ago, this was negative. It’s now slightly up. Restaurants have been very inventive about finding ways to stay afloat, with curbside pickup and delivery and things like that.”
Another panelist being nimble is what businesspeople do all the time.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
