SPRINGFIELD – U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Dunlap) came away impressed with the mass vaccination center on the Illinois State Fairgrounds, praising the coordination among the state, Sangamon County, and the Illinois National Guard.
LaHood is less impressed with the American Rescue Plan stimulus bill, which President Biden signed Thursday and which drew no Republican votes.
Yes, people like $1,400 checks, but LaHood says fewer people should get them.
“You need to have it targeted to people who actually need it, and, remember, this money goes on the federal credit card,” LaHood said after his tour. “Secondarily, the bill that we passed in December, which I supported, we still have eighty percent of that money unspent!”
