BLOOMINGTON – Administrators in Bloomington School District 87 are considering bringing back in-person learning for all students four or five days a week, instead of just two days a week.
Superintendent Dr. Barry Reilly told the school board Wednesday night that details are still being worked out, but the changeover could happen sometime after spring break, which is March 22-26.
The district is currently using the hybrid approach, meaning kids are getting face-to-face learning time two days a week, and taking part in virtual learning from home the other three days.
Reilly said administrators surveyed families currently opting for hybrid learning, and 83% of them said they’re comfortable with the idea of more in-person learning even as communities like Bloomington continue the battle against COVID-19.
Right now, the district says 65% of elementary students are taking advantage of in-person instruction, while 40% are doing the same at the junior high and high school levels.
