BLOOMINGTON – When it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine, a lot of blame is being put on the federal government.
Gov. JB Pritzker says states aren’t getting enough vaccine, but the numbers are starting to improve.

“We have about 4 million people right now eligible to get a vaccination, but we are only getting a couple hundred thousand per week,” Pritzker told WJBC’s Scott Miller. “People have to be patient and there is no doubt this is going to take some time.”
“We don’t want people standing in line in the freezing cold at a facility and not know if they are going to actually be able to get a vaccine. That is why people have to go online to make an appointment, and there is only a certain number of them, because there is only a certain amount of vaccinations available.”
The hope is when more vaccines are readily available, the current infrastructure will allow more people to get vaccinated quicker, said Pritzker.
The state is averaging around 46,000 shots per day. Around 16,000 doses have been administered in McLean County.
